Spine Stabilization Program
The philosophy behind the Dean Clinic Spine Stabilization Program is to
teach you how to improve the condition of your back through regular
stretching and strengthening.
The program is available to any
patient who has been referred by his/her healthcare provider. Prior to
attending the class, you will meet with a physical therapist. This
meeting allows the therapist to learn about your back history and
customize an exercise plan.
You will be enrolled in a one-hour
class which meets twice weekly for six weeks. The class is taught by our
skilled physical therapy staff. Although you meet as a group, your
instructor and therapist will get to know each of you, adapting the
class to meet your personal requirements.
Here are a few benefits you’ll gain from this program:
- Gain flexibility and strength through progressive exercises to emphasize neutral spine stabilization.
- Use physioball exercises and functional movement to promote spinal stability.
- Learn regular exercise programs to help heal existing problems and avoid the risk of new ones.
- Learn proper postures and body mechanics to help you perform daily activities safely and with decreased pain.
If you are interested in this class, please talk to your provider or therapist for a referral.
Billing
A straight fee will be charged to you and your insurance for each week
you attend, whether you attend one or both classes. You may wish to
verify coverage with your insurance carrier. Charges are billed under

Women's Health Services
At Dean Therapy Services our team of physical therapists and physical
therapist assistants has specialized training that can benefit women
with a variety of medical conditions. These therapists use their
expertise to evaluate and treat female clients and develop treatment
plans that can help promote and enhance health throughout their lives.
We treat a wide variety of conditions, including:
Incontinence. Incontinence is the involuntary loss
or leakage of urine. Stress incontinence is the loss of urine with
physical activities such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, lifting or
jumping. Urge incontinence is urine loss accompanied by an overwhelming
urge to go to the bathroom and/or a high frequency of urination.
Exercises, diet changes, biofeedback and electrical stimulation can all
be helpful in treating incontinence.
Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a condition where
bones become thin and brittle and are at risk for breaking. Exercise,
instruction in proper postures, and other treatments can be used to
manage osteoporosis.
Obstetrical dysfunction. Pregnant women may suffer
from pain in the back, shoulder blades, pelvis or wrists due to changes
in posture, weight and hormonal factors in pregnancy. Post-delivery
issues may also require physical therapy. Exercise, positioning, and
supportive garments may be used to treat obstetrical issues.
Pelvic floor tension/pain. Pain in the sling of
muscles that support the bladder, uterus and rectum can be caused by
muscle, joint and nerve problems. Women with pelvic floor problems may
have trouble sitting, pain with intercourse or constant chronic pain.
Therapy may include relaxation exercises, biofeedback and manual
therapy.
Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition
with persistent and widespread musculoskeletal pain along specific
tender points. Stiffness, fatigue and anxiety can accompany the
musculoskeletal symptoms. Treatments are aimed at reducing pain and
promoting function and may include stretching and strengthening
exercises, relaxation, heat or cold modalities and instruction in body
mechanics.
Lymphedema. Lymphedema is a persistent swelling of
the arm or leg. It can occur after a mastectomy if lymph nodes are
damaged or removed. It can also occur after an infection or scarring
process that blocks the lymphatic flow. Exercises, massage and
custom-made compression garments are among the treatment choices.
Please talk to your healthcare provider if you have any women's health conditions. Our team of physical therapists looks forward to helping you enhance your health throughout your life!
