Important Announcement Regarding Maintenance
Medications
Here
at DHP, we are always on the lookout to provide our members with time-saving
opportunities whenever possible. It is with this in mind that we are pleased to
provide them a special offer on 90-day prescription refills. Starting
April 1, 2012 Dean Health Plan (DHP) members taking qualifying* generic
maintenance medication will automatically be enrolled to receive a 90-day
supply. This change will be made after the patient has filled three consecutive
prescriptions with the traditional 30-day supply. The patients will be required
to pay a three-month copay at the point of purchase, for the three month’s
supply of medication. A member may request an exception to this change by
asking the retail pharmacy provider to switch back to a 30-day supply. This
means fewer trips to the pharmacy, fewer payments and time saved for the
member.
In
order to ease members into this change, DHP is currently offering these DHP
members an incentive to convert their prescription refills from a 30-day to a
90-day supply. For all qualifying generic maintenance prescriptions that are
converted between November 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012, DHP will only charge two
month’s copays instead of three. This offer is valid for prescriptions that
have not yet converted to a 90-day refill.
*Members
will receive outreach from DHP based on their use of a qualifying generic
maintenance medication. Not all generic medication is considered a qualifying
maintenance medication for the 90 day program.
