American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (COBRA)
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides premium reductions and additional election opportunities for health benefits under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985, commonly called COBRA (applicable to employers with 20 or more employees).
On April 15, 2010, the Federal Government extended the eligibility period for COBRA premium assistance until May 31, 2010. The extension also provides coverage for individuals who lost their jobs between March 31 and April 15.
