Fraud Awareness

Together, we can work to help control the cost of health care.

The first step is education. The new Special Investigative Unit (SIU) brochure, Fraud Awareness: Helping to Control Health Care Costs is one way we are working to educate Dean Health Plan agents, groups and members.

The brochure highlights the following areas:

• What is health care fraud and abuse?
• How does it affect not only existing, but also potential groups and members?
• What are fraud warning signs?

Examples of Health Care Fraud

• Ineligible dependents on a policy (such as a relative, girlfriend, boyfriend, etc.)
• Misrepresented information on a health insurance application
