Construction Progress at Janesville Campus
Construction Offers Glimpse of Finality

In
a sure sign of progress, a prototype patient room has been completed.
The move allows personnel to finalize the way that each of the 49 other
patient rooms will be built, in the interest of optimal care. A similar
process was already used to prepare other hospital areas, such as the
Emergency Department. Thanks to construction that is on schedule, St.
Mary’s Janesville Hospital and the adjoining Dean Clinic are set to open
January 9, 2012.
Construction Shows Concerted Effort to Go Green
From energy efficiency and ground water preservation to environmentally
friendly transportation and recycling of construction waste, the new
medical campus was built with the environment in mind.
High-efficiency
lighting systems, motors, boilers and heat recovery mechanisms
highlight the interior. Just as important are the exterior components -
water pollutant filters, stormwater collection systems and low-water
landscape plants. In addition, planners worked with the City of
Janesville to secure a bus stop near the front door and connect the
existing bike trail to the campus.
