Sights Set On New Home for Eye Care in Portage
New Davis Duehr Dean Location to Welcome Patients Monday, August 9
For ten years, Davis Duehr Dean - Portage has served patients at its clinic on New Pinery Road. This week, they officially opened the doors to a new location within the building that houses Dean Clinic – Portage, located at 2825 Hunters Trail.
“Being a third generation eye care provider in this community, I am particularly excited about this opportunity,” says Dennis Harkins, OD with Davis Duehr Dean - Portage. “This is our fourth big move since my grandfather started practicing in Portage in 1933. We are getting bigger and better.”
The new location will offer twice the amount of space provided by the clinic’s previous building. Instead of six exam rooms, patients will be seen in twelve exam rooms and multiple special testing rooms. The additional space allows Davis Duehr Dean to house new equipment that offers patients the latest technological advances in eye care.
Davis Duehr Dean – Portage currently has three optometrists, Dr. Dennis Harkins, Dr. Katie Schaller, and Dr. Emily Parker, as well as a surgical cataract specialist Dr. Robert Castrovinci.
“It will enable us to enhance the vision and eye health of our patients,” says Dr. Harkins. “Our goal is to help patients maintain good functional vision from birth through their golden years.
With the new location conveniently inside Dean Clinic - Portage, patients may also find themselves making fewer trips for appointments.
“If a provider within Family Medicine finds an eye issue with a particular patient, for example, they can send him or her directly down to us,” says Dr. Harkins. “It will save many patients time. It’s a trip downstairs and not across town.”
