Thomas R. Flygt, MD Received the 2010 Community-Based Physician and Mentor Award

Thomas R. Flygt, MD of Baraboo Internal Medicine was honored at the 55th Annual Scientific meeting held last weekend at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  He was awarded the 2010 Community-Based Physician and Mentor Award of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

"SMDV appreciates all of the effort that Dr. Flygt has given over the years to the education of medical students and residents,” says Dr. Timothy Rentmeester, SMDV Medical Director.  “Further we recognize the work that he has done in improving end of life care for patients in the Baraboo area.  We congratulate Dr. Flygt on a well deserved honor."

Dr. Flygt practices internal medicine, including geriatrics and gastrointestinal endoscopy, at Baraboo Internal Medicine and Saint Clare Hospital.  He is the Medical Director of Saint Clare Meadows and Golden Living Center - Wisconsin Dells.  Dr. Flygt received a BA from the University of Wisconsin and his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.  He went on to complete an internship and his residency at Indiana University and then received his master's degree in bioethics from the Medical College of Wisconsin.  He is certified in internal medicine and geriatrics by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is also certified in long-term care medical direction by the American Medical Directors Association.
